Equity, Inclusion & Diversity

WHAT DOES THE EQUITY, INCLUSION & DIVERSITY COMMITTEE DO?

The International Potluck Dinner: SAVE THE DATE for FRIDAY, JANUARY 25th @6:00pm. This is a FREE, fun community event where PS10 families can celebrate their backgrounds and countries with delicious food, music, and crafts! It’s one of the best nights of the year. WE NEED VOLUNTEERS to help plan this year’s event.

Diverse Books: In connection with the Visiting Author’s Committee, this year we’ve purchased books that teachers will use to develop grade appropriate curriculum.

NO PLACE FOR HATE: This will be our third year as an official ADL "No Place for Hate" School. Qualifying activities include faculty and parent workshops, a free community event, and a series of student assemblies involving the "PS10 Promise."

Talk to Us/Hablanos: This year we have created a new initiative to improve communication between non-English speaking families and the PTA. We provide translators every Wednesday morning after drop-off in school lobby to assist parents with any questions or concerns they have.

The Diversity Project: We created a public art project highlighting the PS1O community's rich and diverse family stories. This year, we’re adapting this idea into a COOKBOOK—celebrating our diversity with favorite family recipes.

HOW DO I GET INVOLVED?

Join Our Konstella Group: This is a great way to stay in touch even if you can’t come to meetings:

Come to a meeting: We meet every Wednesday morning @8:30am in the cafeteria. For those who cannot make a morning meeting—LET US KNOW! We will plan evening meetings depending on interest level.

Volunteer: The International Potluck Dinner is coming up and is a great way to get involved and learn more about the important work we are doing.
