PS 10 Grading Policy
P.S. 10 is dedicated to making sure that our grading policies reflect the new realities of remote and blended learning and the ways in which our students demonstrate their learning. This document serves as a transparent grading policy to inform students and their families about how this grading system will work throughout the 2024-25 school year.
PS 10 Grading Scale:
Grades K-5
- 4 = Excels in standards
- 3 = Proficient
- 2 = Below standards
- 1 = Well below standards
Timeline: Students in grades 1-5 will receive grades three times this year (December, March, and June). Kindergarten students will receive grades two times this year (March and June). Pre K will receive progress reports two times this year (March and June).
Grades are cumulative and show students’ progress throughout the year. Families will be kept up-to-date through check-ins from their teachers throughout the year.
Our grading policy applies to all students, including Students with Disabilities (SWD) and English Language Learners (ELLs). Please note all students, regardless of being an ELL or SWD*, are held to Grade Level Standards.
*ELL/ESL/ENL are referring to the same student population of English Language Learners (ENL is the most current term).
*Students with disabilities-annual goals, plans for progress monitoring, and promotion criteria are documented in the IEP, while the report card documents progress made in the general education curriculum. All students, including students with disabilities, receive grades based on how well they master the grade level subject matter, concepts, content, and skills addressed in a subject. The IEP describes specially designed instruction and accommodations for an individual student that is used to create access to grade-level standards and enable progress toward annual goals.
First report cards will be released on December 19, 2024. You will be able to access them via your New York City Students Account.
